i am sorry this is a long story i will try and shorten it. am new to all this forum.  i need help and some advice please. i am 36 had bowell cancer for 2 years had the op to remove the tumor and lymph glands. all good scan and margins clear. 3 months later a scan show cancer in the fatty tissue i have had 2 lots of chemo with 2 different chemo oxalin placin and rintinacan they are spelt wrong sorry. the have not worked and the cancer has grown in the same place nothing in my organs just in the fatty tissue. the consultant has said she can not do anything any more as she only has 2 chemo for bowel cancer. and told me she will now treat my symptoms as it gets worse.  this is crazy i feel fine my immune is really good i am not giving up.  i was wondering if anyone knows anything about alternative medicines and who do i ring. there is loads of things on the internet but i dont know were to start and who to ring.  any help would be amazing

  • Hi parkus

I'm sorry to hear of the situation you find youreslf in. As there is nothing further conventional treatments can offer you. You have nothing to lose by trying alternative therapies. Just be aware they offer no cure but can treat your symptoms, and that there are lots of charlatains and ill informed people out there ready to profit from vulnerable people like us.

I cant recommend anthything here as forum rules prevent promoting alternative medicine. However a forum member mentioned they had stayed at the Penny Brohn centre near Bristol they have a website it may be a place to start. While searching the internet just keep your Captain Sensible hat on, take everything with a pinch of salt and ask yourself why miracle cure xyz costs £100 for a weeks supply.

Wishing you all the best with your health and your search. Kim

  • Hello Parkus,

    Welcome to our forum!

I would just advise you to be extremely cautious about these especially when googling on the Internet as unfortunately you can find all sorts of unreliable and even dangerous information. Kim is right - there are a lot of dubious people online.

We have some useful information on the difference between alternative and complementary therapies here.

Don't hesitate to talk to your consultant about all this and if you want to talk things through in more detail, you can also ring our nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (UK only).

    Best wishes,
