colon & liver cancer

Hi my mother has been diagnosed with advanced colon cancer which has spread to liver..  I was just wondering what the specialist is going to say at the treatment centre..  And does anyone have any ideas what treatment they usually give.  Please..  is there any hope??!

  • Hi Rachel, welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom having this terrible disease. I've had colon cancer and I had chemo for that, but I'm not too familiar with liver cancer. I have other cancers that I'm also dealing with and they're ongoing. The main reason I responded to your post was to welcome you to the forum so you would know that we do read the posts. The other reason I responded is to bump your post to the beginning where it will be seen more easily and hopefully, another member of the forum will be able to be more familiar with your Mom's particular problem.

Good luck with it and sending you a big virtual hug.

  • What cancer do you have.  And how is the chemo..  do you have any side effects..  And are the tumours/cancer reducing

  • Hi Rachel, I had 4 rounds of chemo when I was diagnosed with colon cancer 5 years ago. I was supposed to have 6 rounds, but I was so sick and my white blood count was so low that they had to stop the chemo. It must have helped some though because that cancer hasn't come back. I do have lung and bladder cancer now though so am being treated for those cancers. At least I'm still alive and in between surgeries and other treatments, I'm managing to enjoy life to some degree. Its' difficult to compare one person's cancer to another because people are different and so are cancers. What works for me may not work for your Mom and vice versa. I hope your Mom gets along okay with her treatment and is able to have some periods of wellness as she takes this journey that none of us would choose to be on.

Come back on to the forum and let us know how your Mom is doing and also to get support for yourself and your Mom.

    Take care.
