first chemo

Hi, for anyone who is waiting for their first chemo, I've just done number 1 and it was ok. I barely slept last night and had a huge urge to stay under the duvet this morning. But! It didn't hurt a bit, nursing staff were lovely, I have peed lots, and generally feel a huge sense of relief that treatment is started. Met lots of new folk who were more savvy about cancer and happy to talk about it. I think I will sleep better tonight. Under no illusion what's ahead but feel more able to cope after today.

  • Hi Weejools

pleased to see that your first chemo went well and hopefully it will continue to do so and you will have minimal side effects. My husband gets his first infusion on Monday. Fingers crossed he tolerates it well and manages to get all 6 sessions finished.

Hope everything goes well for you and you are soon on the road to full health

  • Hi Inula, thanks for kind words. I'm sure your husband will get on fine, my tips would be to drink plenty before he goes, moisturise back of hands (helps get Venflon in easy), mints, juice, comfy gear to wear and stuff to occupy brain, earphones if possible cos, there is a constant beeping from the Iv machines, but otherwise, please tell him, it's painless, just v boring!!!
