I was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in November 2011, it was discovered by pure chance. I was being treated for a rather large ovarian cyst, which measured 51cm x 21cm. This also turned out to be ovarian cancer. However one cancer had not spread to the other, they were two totally separate cancers. The ovarian cancer was dealt with by means of a hysterectomy, the lung cancer had spread to lymph nodes though, so was deemed inoperable, we all know what that means. After chemo the cancer was significantly smaller and further tests showed that lymph nodes were no longer infected, good news, as this meant that I could have the lobectomy. I feel truely blessed to still be here to share my story, I just really wanted to say to everyone newly diagnosed, that although the treatment is harsh, never give up hope and try to keep smiling. I'm taking part in the race for life this year, it may take me a while, but hey, who ever said life was easy? God bless you all and good luck.
