Juicing

i know I am clutching at straws but I am so undecided about what course to take and just want to help myself in any way I can so has anyone any knowledge of juicing to fight cancer. I have heard of carrot or broccoli juice and hope that this might help alongside treatment with chemo and/or surgery.

  • Hello Lettie,

This is a very interesting topic for our Healthy Living topic area so thanks a lot for posting it!

I hope it will be a useful thread to many here who want to share nutritious recipes, juice combinations, and energy boosting tips while having cancer treatment for example.

I would also suggest you have a look at this link from our website: it gives some suggestions on how to make a delicious smoothie for example and how to add calories to your diet if needed.

Don't hesitate also to give our nurses a call at any time to discuss this - you can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

  • Hmmm = very interesting. Hello BTW - I am steven and its my wife with her cancer. She likes juicing and has been doing it for ages. If you have a cancer - I would discuss it over with a nutricionist first. Try and find out if you have any allergies to any food stuffs. My wife has allergies to several things - brocoli is one for eg. So, she makes sure these things are not in the drinks.

I am sure it helps and I am sure its easier to digest and is good. Its also lower in empty calories. She is very wary of sugars for eg.

    Have fun!

I like beetroot and a squeeze of lemon BTW!!

  • Hi

I really believe that you can make a difference by eating well. I have been using the nutri bullet x its great and all the goodness is retained x quick and easy . I eat loads of green vegetables and black fruit x I have also looked ay The Bristol Diet which gives lots of support with healthy diets for cancer patients. I know though that you have to be careful when you have chemo - especially with supplements etc . Talk to your consultant about this . I start my chemo in June so will be careful to do what my medical team say during treatment periods
