... and now we wait

Mixed feelings today. I had my six monthly CT scan this morning and they managed to get a canula into my chemo veins on the first attempt!  That's first time they've managed to do that in well over a year.

I see the oncologist on the 18th for the results of the scan. I feel pretty good at the moment, but I can't help thinking that this run of good luck can't last forever (though obviously I hope it does!).

From experience I know that the next 12 days will drag and anxiety levels will rise as that date draws closer, not so much in me but in my close family.

The only one not getting stressed is my dog, apart from the fact that she wants to go for a walk NOW! lol She is always good as a distraction ;-)

Cheers
Dave

  • HI Dave,

I can understand the mixed feelings and can still remember how the days dragged slowly by while I was waiting for reults. So I do sypathise on both count and wish you well for when you do get your results.

I had my six month check up recently and my PSA has only risen very slightlu and is still very low so very pleased.

Take care Dave and am sending best wishes and kind thoughts, Brian.

  • Hi Dave, I can commiserate with this waiting game as I am also holding my breath since Monday when I had a biopsy on my bladder. It will likely be another few weeks for me before I hear the results. I'm not feeling too optimistic either, but then I give my head a shake and at least make an attempt to consider the possibility that maybe this time it will turn out better. I do this every time and almost every time, I get the news that things are not that good. However, I'm still here, so we have to have hope because without hope we have nothing.

Take care and just know that you're not alone.

  • Hi Dave, like Brian and Lorraine, I can empathise with your mixed feelings, the wait for results and the slight feeling of pessimism about your run of good luck, running out! I'm keeping everything crossed for you!

Seems like we three are in the same boat - my next scan is next week and the results will determine whether more surgery is required.

Can also relate to the way our families and dogs cope with this waiting period! Only wish a good game of fetch  could alleviate the stress in my human companions as it seems to with my little furry friend! ;)

Will be thinking of you, especially on the 18th. Take care Dave, hugs to you, Jo xx

  •

Dave ..... glad they got your vein in one!  We can all relate to your feelings and it goes without saying that we will be keeping everything crossed for you. x

  • Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts! It must be that time of the year when all our scans coincide ;-)

Rani was thoroughly exhausted after her walk. I was thinking about other things and went into automatic mode throwing her hockey ball (heavy, indestructable and they float!) as far as I could every time she brought it back!

Our son and his girlfriend moved into their first home together today - another small milestone on the journey :-)

  • Yea = we are starting to join you all in anxious waiting!! One hurdle jumped (endoscopy) - now scan to do...

I pray for us all that the dark clouds roll away - ever away.

Have a lovely day Dave = we are also off for a long walk - I am not working today - first Saturday off in yonks!

  • We're thinking of you Dave during this anxious wait.

I hope you have lots of lovely walks with your dog. Perhaps she picks up on the fact you are (understandably) a little bit anxious and she pulls your trouser leg to take you out for a walk? Or maybe she just wants a nice walk herself :D

We've got everything crossed for you.

    Lucie

  • Hi Lucie,

Thanks - I try not to worry about these things but I do worry about other people worrying ... if that makes sense.

I'm afraid she is utterly id centred and obsessed with retrieval  - even her walks are just a means to playing retrieval games. If I forget to take a ball, she'll hunt around for a replacement - sticks, stones anything that can be thrown and retrieved lol

    Cheers

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Is Rani retriever or sheepdog?  Or just dog  with personality?

Your mates here are supporting you and hoping your results are good.  You have been doing so well and I thank you for your wonderful advice and the heartful support of others.

    Best wishes, Kathy.xx

  • Hi Kathy,

She is a slightly crazy Yellow Labrador Retriever - today she looked more like a mongrel with different coloured fur! I'll set her picture as my avatar and you'll see what I mean :-)

    Cheers
