Some fantastic news!

Hi forum friends, I'm just back from getting the results from my recent surgery. The pathology showed it to be a benign mass (neuroma)! Fantastic news! The liver surgeon is now going to refer me to the thoracic specialist and he'll take it from there! I asked about time frames and it's unlikely to be before February next year, so the liver doctor told me to go and enjoy a fantastic Christmas! He also advised me to stay off work until the New Year - sounds good to me! So, I'm sitting here, slightly bemused and letting the good news sink in! Hugs to all, Jo xx Grrr! It's posted twice! Not sure how to delete one of the threads! Any advice?
  • Hi Kathy, thanks for your kind reply (sorry it's taken me ages to respond!) I'll keep following your thread to keep up with your news. Take care, hugs returned, Jo xx
  • HI Jo

We are so glad things are good for you and your partner = we both wish you a smashing Christmas. Well, Anne had her op. about a year ago and came out with her iliostomy and a Dansac bag. It leaked almost immediately and I scoured youtube and then returned to our stoma nurse to change all her stuff to Oakmed bag etc. Since then its been brilliant and we are both happy and she enjoys her grub etc. She heard so many things about reversals she decided against them. The problem seems to be urgencies and leaks. Her cousin (man) has had a reversal and he can only eat in the evening at home. So, that put Anne off and I personally dont mind it = so the stoma stays! They were keen for her to have a reversal = but are very hedgy about its possible success. She says that the nurses privately told her that if the stoma suits her - then leave well alone! We aim not to have any more operations unless strictly needed. Certainly, the people I talk to at work (I am an optician) who have reversal find problems and its the sort of problems that would knock Annes confidence. She explored diet changes and it all settled down. The rectum is the storage area = that was all removed. She has her big meal at 6pm and empties the bag 10pm ish, 3am ish and maybe 7am. Its fit to bursting then!! But she drinks a good litre of water before bed. During the day she must empty the bag three times I guess. She varies it by eating at different times and we go out all day with no problems.

Myopia is short sightedness btw. I love study and research and am working on how to advise kids to keep their sight. Perhaps its to do with schools windows sizes. We find a spurt of kids with shortsight in the spring and much less in the Autumn. So, light plays a big part. I know that old school buildings had massive windows = maybe this was a positive thing then.

I am also studying watery eye and dry eye from chemo. We get many patients on chemo at work.

Sorry for a long post = but we do wish you well – every day we place a candle in our front window for everyone battling Mr. C. and bring to mind you and everyone else here and who we have met =

    xx

  • Brilliant news, forget about it fir now and yes have a fab Xmas xx
  • Hi Whirlybird, thank you for your kind reply, especially as I see from your thread that you and your family are going through a really tough time right now. I hope you find some sort of relief by being able to offload on the forum to others who understand what you're going through. I'll follow your thread to see how your father in law is getting on, meanwhile, remember to take care of yourself. Sending you a hug, Jo xx
  • Hi Jo,

Haven't been on the site too much lately, but wanted to catch up with my virtual buddies. Although I feel like I am moving on thesedays I will always remember the support my friends on here gave me when I really needed it and I want to wish you a very happy, peaceful Christmas.  Hope x  PS Enjoy the time out from the school kids, they're hyper at mo!

  • Hi Hope, thank you so much for the lovely wishes! I'm relishing the 'kid free' time, especially as my colleagues have said that the lurgies are continuing to go through the school, with children 'dropping like flies!' It would also seem that I'm not heading back in January as planned, as I met the lung surgeon today and he wants to operate in early January! He actually offered me December 24th, but I declined as I wanted a Christmas with my kids! No doubt someone will take him up on his offer! I hope you and your men enjoy a wonderful, peaceful Christmas too (hopefully not too much revision for exams on the cards for the boys?) Take care, lovely lady, Jo xx
  • Hi Jo
