An anxious wait . . . is now back on again

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update, straight from the horses mouth, so to speak!

The specialist liver nurse has just rung to say that my latest MRI scan results have shown no new tumours!!!

Still the original three little blighters!

One of three has remained the same size, but the other two have slightly increased in size.

Next step is to have a PET scan (will need to look this up on here!) thought the nurse did explain it was like a CT scan only with glucose - I'm guessing to highlight markers elsewhere in the body?

If this scan is ok, liver resection and stoma reversal is next on the cards!

No timescales yet, but I'm wearing a smile as big as the sun today!

Thank you everyone for all your supportive messages during my 'anxious wait'

Love to you all, Jo xx

  • Hi Jo

As always the waiting is the worst part but at least you have seen the colorectal surgeon.  Hopefully the next "photo shoot" will show nothing to worry about and that you are doing fine.  Hope the new washing machine turns up on time.  It can be a real pain if you have to hang around for them especialt if there are more important things you can be doing.

Have really enjoyed the sun today but we should make the most of it tomorrow and Monday as it looks as though rain will be coming in on Tuesday.

Finger crossed for you (although I am sure you will not need it).

    Gill

  • It's great to hear from you Jo and as ever, your sense of humour is on form. I laughed out loud about the washing machine being plumbed in on the same day!!

I've been thinking of you a lot this week and wondering how you are getting on.  Sounds as if you got some good explanations from your meeting and you appear to be in good spirits. Keep us posted and I hope you are enjoying the sunshine also.

    Take care,

    Nicola xx

  • Hi Lovely Jo ..............

Got my fingers crossed for good news for you this coming week  -  thinking of you as always x

  • Hi Jo

Will be updating my own thread shortly but just wanted to wish you all the best with your 'plumbing' photo shoot tomorrow (hope I have the timing right as I am a bit out of sync this week!!) and that this brings good news your way. New washing machine at the same time I see (still waiting for mine - been going to the launderette since last September!! but hopeful of being able to do some 'shopping' at the sale this weekend if hubby up to it) so hope your other half all ready to 'watch and learn'. Take care and sending hugs.Jules

  • Hi Jules,

Thanks for your kind wishes - yes, you're spot on with the timing! By the time the children in school are being registered tomorrow, I'll be lying on an X-ray table with . . . Well, you can guess, as it's an enema!

I've looked at the literature about the procedure and had a wee chuckle at the paragraph that said

'after the liquid has been run into your bowel, it will be drained away and air put into the bowel. The liquid and air coat the bowel and X-rays are taken in various positions'

Hopefully these 'various positions' don't involve anything too precarious! I'm not the most agile of people!

I've also taken the precaution of booking the whole day off school - the thoughts of possibly being 'orchestral' (think wind section!) in front of 30 kids is a bit disconcerting!

I'll also let my other half take delivery of the washing machine! And yes, he will be learning how to use it.

As we've been machine-less for over a week, there's plenty for him to practise on! I'm impressed that you've been going to the launderette for as many months since I had my surgery! Have you tended to meet the same people there each week?

Hope you get to do some good shopping over the weekend!

Hugs to you too, Jo xx

  • Jo - you really are so funny. I wont be able to get you out of my thoughts tomorrow lol! Hope it all goes well xxxx

  • Aw thanks Max! As you know, I always prepare a list of questions for my appointments, but I think I'll avoid the obvious,  "Does my b*m look big in this?"

Maybe a little inappropriate, though it may help ease the embarrassment of the situation!

( Have to say, there's little left to be embarrassed about these days!   )

I'm rambling, sorry! Need to eat!

Hope you're taking care of yourself too!

    Love and hugs, Jo xxxx

  • Hi Jo

There really is only one response to your post - hope everything goes with a 'blast' tomorrow and that all  your plumbing questions will be answered (and your prayers too, in that the washing 'backlog' has been cleared upon your return).

As to meeting the same  people at the launderette each week, you may have gathered from some of my postal timings that I am an early bird and there are not many of us there before 7 a m (it opens at 6!!) - on the other hand most of them are male and I usually have my nose stuck in a book otherwise find my head going round in time with the washing which could cause some weird looks!!  Will keep you in my thoughts and hope all goes 'smoothly'.  Hugs  Jules xx

  • Hi Jo,

Have had to laugh at the various references to "wind" and "blasting" - really can't top that but just wanted to say good luck for tomorrow and hope it all goes well.   Hope x

  • Hi Jo,

Will be thinking off you as of now down at Windy Bottom.

    Hope all goes well

    Hugs

    Annabel. xx
