Hi
I wanted to know from people that have had a kidney removed how long they were in hospital and how long they were off work for, I am an office working but would have to drive 7 miles to and from work but no heavy lifting involved.
Thank you.
I had a catheter but it went in whilst under anaesthesia. So, never felt it.
How long did you have it in for and did the distric nurse come and take it out for you or did you have to go back to the hospital ?

Before I could leave hospital I had to pee without it to check the other was functioining ok. That was the criteria. So, it is off before you leave.
Given the amount of morphne for the surgery, it wasnt an issue. I will be honest, it was the least of my concerns.

Thanks for letting me know. I will stop nagging you know
Kind regards

Very interesting post, I have recently been diagnosed with a Renal Cell Carcinoma on my left kidney.
Have an appointment booked for 1 September to find out what the next stage of the process is.
Hi gus
will you keep me informed of the outcome. My husband has a something they think is a tumor in his right ureter so if after the test in the next 2 week they find out it is malignant he will have to have his right ureter and right kidney out. He is upset about it as there is nothing wrong with his kidneys at all but if the ureter has to come out there is no point in keeping the kidney cos it wont work without the ureter Hope it makes sence. Good luck to you.

Hi Renny
Thank you for your reply, and of course I most certainly will.
Best wishes to you and your husband
