Refusing chemo

After a successful removal of a bowel tumour 12 months ago, I had one dose of oxitaliplatin with 5FU. I was so ill, physically and mentally that I had to stop and I have refused any more chemo. If I have a shorter life, so be it. Now I have secondary peritoneal cancer and there's nothing to be done. I wonder if there are other people in this position? I don't regret my decision one bit. I'd love to hear from others. Am I brave or foolish? Mary

    Hi Mary,

As others have said, this is entirely your choice.
Chemo side effects can be bad but it can also be very effective but not for everyone.
I was very lucky and, against all the odds, chemo rescued me from a “probably terminal within 3 to 6 months” prognosis back in 2013.

Only you can decide - hindsight is a wonderful thing for all of us.

    Good luck!

    Hi Mods,

Please delete my response to this 13 year old post.

My guess is that someone restored some lost messages and the app treated them as if posted today. I was on my phone with a small screen and didn’t notice the date!

    Thanks
