Leukoplakia or lichens?

I had whitish patches ( develpoed over a period of 1 month) on the lower side of my tongue, on the gums and inner cheeks in mouth  and was diagnosed as leukoplakia after a biopsy. The biopsy report indicated an abscence of dysplasia. The doctor also expressed his doubt of the probability of lichens and has prescribed steroids ( both topical as well as oral). I dont have any any tobacco or alcohol habits. Is there a risk of oral cancer for me if my condition is either leukoplakia or lichens? and is the lichens completely curable with medication without possible recurrence? do i have to remove the white plaques in my mouth? Iam 21 yrs old.
