That's what happened to me. I found it very uncomfortable after the first course of chemo but thought I would persevere. Am sorry to say my hair still started to fall out so ultimately I decided against the cold cap. A friend of mine carried on even after her hair started falling out and she was left with very sparse hair and she shaved it off anyway.

These are probably not words you will want to hear but am only being honest. I think the hair loss is one of the hardest side effects. BUT the chemo is obviously starting to do its job. Stay wth it MaggieMay, you have started your journey and will soon be able to tick 'no. 2' off.

How have you got on with further sessions and hair loss. I have had cold cap once and had horrific headache for days after. My hair is starting to thin and come out minimally so not sure what,s ahead and whether the misery of cold cap aftermath headaches re worth persevering for? Hope all going well for you and would like to hear how your hair is after treatments.

Hope your chemo is going well. Did you contine with the cold cap?

I've had 2 sessions of chemo now using the cold cap. I didn't realise the 4 days of headaches afterwards were down to that, I thought it was the chemo dise effects. Anyhow, I still think it's worth it. The headaches are bearable for me, thank goodness but it's such a relief when they stop!

I didn't notice any hair loss the first time round but I have noticed that I am shedding alot this last week. Although, looking at my hair, it doesn't look like it has thinned yet - this may well change the more treatments I have of course. I'm going to persevere with it till the end. The specialist nurse advised me that even though I will notice some hair thinning, that's not to say the cold cap isn't working. She said that if any bald patches appear, they can be covered up and that when hair starts to grow back eventually, any bald patches are quickly filled in. It would take me years to get my hair back to the length it is now, so I'm going to stick this one out to the bitter end!

I've been told that the success of the cold cap also depends on hair type and fine hair has better results. My hair is fine and I have alot of it, so I think I could loose alot before it being noticeable perhaps? I don't think I would worry as much about loosing my hair if I had a short style normally, as It would grow back into a short style very quickly.

I am having chemo for the 4th time and have used the cold cap. I have very thick hair

and thought it was worth trying, as even if some hair fell out it wouldn`t be noticed.

However, the cold I felt while it was on was unbearable for me, also, my hair fell out in

clumps and was everywhere. I decided it was best for me to stop using it after the second time.

It`s entirely up to you whether you carry on, it might be worth staying with it, to see if you can manage

to save some of your hair.

I would also like to say, I have lost my hair three times now and it is very traumatic the first time,

but the wigs now are fabulous, I wear mine all the time when going out and no-one suspects

I am wearing a wig, honestly.

I am using the cold cap too. So far had one chemotherapy, dreading the next one. How did you get on with the cold cap?

I'm starting chemo in a few weeks. I was thinking of trying the cold cap but I have migraines and it may bring them on. So now thinking of donating my hair before I start. Does anyone know of an organisation that accept hair 6" long the ones I've found only accept 8" or more.  Jayneyd
