Hi Sharon,
There's a lot of dodgy stuff on the internet about acai berries, as it forms the basis of a number of pyramid selling schemes. You will probably find this link more accurate than most. The short answer to your question is "speak to your care team". Acai can interfere with some sorts of chemo, and has no benefical effect on human cancers.
Hi Sharon
You can find some useful information about the safety of vitamin and dietary supplements in relation to cancer here.
I hope you find this helpful,
Best wishes

Thanks Jane, im just sitting here wondering what i can do to help myself. and do the best that i can to give me a fighting chance, dont want to look back and say what if id done this or that; i have to act now
Just my thoughts................
If this berry is so great......why haven't the medical profession taken it on board and produced drugs etc from it??
Surely the scientists researching cancer treatments would have looked into this and evaluated the benefits?
As my oncologist said to me at the start of my treatment.....don't go running of to glastonbury and start hugging crystals etc....stick with the proven chemo regime..it's been tried and tested.
Most of these 'wonder berries/plants' etc seem to be based around someone selling them to vulnerable people who are desperate for any sort of cure for cancer.
Good luck
(just my point of view though)
well imabloke
i looked at a few links and yep it seems to be a non starter. im open minded about anything but im no pushover..just hate the thought of being in the dark, i want all information so that i can give myself the best chance
Thanks Sharon xxxxxxx
It is a long while after you posted but this thread came up while I was doing some reading about particularly nutritious fruit and vegetables.
Even now there isn't much there on the net about scientifically proven Acai health benefits for humans (as opposed to lab animals) and I'm afraid it may be down to little funding for research.
No pharma company want to conduct research into a natural product that cannot be patented, but in time I hope we can discover more about natural plant compounds and if they have the ability to treat and hear.
I haven't come to any conclusions aside from recommending the usual low fat, high fibre, plentiful fruit and veg of all colours of the rainbow and wholegrains.
I'm at the age where friends, family and colleagues are starting to be diagnosed with cancer more frequently and while it would be irresponsible to recommend supplements etc, personally I am increasing my intake of fresh fruit and veg, especially any type of berry and cruciferous vegetables. Aiming for more than 5 a day.
