Ovarian Cancer

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Cancer in March and although we knew it was Cancer its still a shock to be told it. I have had 2  chemo cycles now and have my 3rd at the end of the month. I would love to chat about the chemo side affects to anyone..

  • Hi trixy

Welcome to the group even if it not the best place to be! Have you had a diagnosis or are you waiting results? If its ovarian cancer its not usually treated by radiotherapy, normally a combination of chemo, op, chemo. Fill us in a little more on whats been happening and we'll all do our best to help you through.

Hi Dot, glad the scan went well, my place still uses the drink but while I was dreading it as had metalic mouth at the time it actually tasted better, dare I say even nice! Good idea to phone to make sure, wasted trips are a total pain. let us know how you get on with the phone call (prob better to leave till at least luchtime as was done on a Fri and will need to be reported on!)

    Take care all

    Jackie

  • Thanks for remembering me and the CT scan tomorrow dont know what to expect really. Think i have to have a canula in my hand but nobody has mentioned a drink this far. also goning to ring my consultant to clear a few things now im not so shocked by the news. can you have a raised tumour marking result for a benign tumour? Theres def a tumour on my cyst described as having a complex nature ???????? oh i dont know.... thanks for everyones kind words and encouragent anyway, your a lovely lot x Hope you ve all had a great week end

    love

  • Hi Anne

Tumours markers (ca125) are not overly accurate, in some ladies they don't raise at all, mine have only ever got as far as 300 while I've read about ladies with them in there thousands. They can also be raised for other reasons i.e. infections. So you can't rely on them which is why its not used without a CT scan.

I suspect your CT scan will be abdo/ pelvis/chest. So you will have an injection and a drink if your hospital still uses it (some don't apparently!).

Your consultant will know more once the result is back so if you phone make sure you get an appointment to discuss the results and bring someone with you and a pile of written questions! Believe me its the only way, as the conversation progressess you forgot everything you want to ask

Good luck for tom though its not that bad honest

let us know how you get on

    Best wishes

  • Hi ,

I had a lovely time with the Boys, Isabella & Katie, even though it wasn't long enough. They only had Sat with me and had to leave at midday yesterday as its a 4 hour journey. The Baby is beautiful....!www.cancerchat.org.uk/.../happy.gif!

I have to go to Hospital on the 30th for anaesthetic assessment plus investigations carried out ...Any ideas what that is ladies ?

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend .

  • Hi Eileen

How lovely to have a cuddle at last !!You must have had such a smashing time.

Sorry dont know what tests you will be having but they like to swab for MRSA and take blood counts so it could be those..Hope you are feeling better now and recovering from your treatment.Stay strong.
