Hi,

Hi Eileen and Kathy
Bit late but happy birthday Eileen hope you have a good one and the food /drink don't taste too bad!
It may sound like I've been through the mill but without rare side effects I wouldn't have know I'd been treated! Whenever you read somebody elses journey it always sounds worse than your own, take all the infections you had Eileen that would have driven me up the wall!
Have had 3 great days, bit hot for my present likeing but hey can't complain, bit panicy yesterday as walked too far and thought the car was much further than it was. struggled a bit but got there in the end, knackered by the time i got home!
Both you ladies need to prepare for finishing chemo, something you look froward to loads, when it finishes you look forward to getting your taste back and then your hair, gradually your energy picks up and then the scareness sets in. You wonder how sucessfull the treatment has been, you miss the 3 weeekly hosp visit which you know realise was very reassuring. It does settle but constantly in the back of your mind is the fact you have a cancer and that normal is no longer normal. I belive that as time goes by you adjust to the new normal but I didn't get that far! Not trying to frighten you just trying to give you a chance to think about it and hopefully it may help!
Strange thought but in 2 weeks all 3 of us will be on chemo lol,
Keep well and roll on October/ November

Hi Jackie,
Thats a great message you sent as I suppose its like when your learning to drive you can't wait to be able to drive on your own. Then when you do its scary as there is nobody to tell you where to go. It must be a bit like that as you will feel on your own. I never looked ahead that far...
I had a great day thank you, went to Carmarthen shopping. We don't have many shops here so for Argos & Wilikinsons its an hours drive away. I bought a garden umberella and guess what its raining today, ha ha .......That big black cloud just wont leave me alone thats over my head.
Anyway I will chat later..xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi Eileen
Glad you enjoyed your day, I could have used your umberella as roasting in Norfolk! Thank god for air conditioning units, don't seem to tolerate the heat since chemo nor the cold come to think of it lol, maybe just more aware of it???
Big black cloud is only rain clouds and they all go away in the end leaving lovely sunshine, every cloud has a silver lining so they say, just need to look hard to find it :p
Have fun

Hi REDLIZZIE,
Thank you for the email. It was very kind of you to offer me your phone number and I would like that very much. You say you had to drink iodine solution before your chemo, what is the iodine for?
I hope you have had lovely weather where you are as we have had, it makes you feel so much better when the weather is good.
It makes such a difference if the doctors are really good and understanding. My partner lost his wife to cervical cancer in 1998, she was just 37. I feel so awful that he has to go through it all with me again. He is a really good man and very supportive.
Take care and best wishes,
Love kathym
Hi Kathym,
 Glad to hear from you. Thats hard going for you and your partner him having lost his wife to cancer. He must be a good man as mine is and I think people do tend to forget about the partners of those who are ill....They feel it as well but everyone seems to ask how we are and not them...
I had the iodine drink before the CT Scan last week to show everything up. I think I said the last 2 Ct scans I had were before the chemo so it didn't taste as bad as when I have had the chemo. (if that makes sense )
The weather hasn't been great to be honest down here, it rained all day yesterday but sun & cloud today. My Daughter is in Manchester and they have had great weather. I am originally from Oldham but lived in Manchester for 30 years although I still talk in an Oldham accsent. We have only been down here since March and had to have all my medical records transfered to here. I am glad I am not at Christie Hospital as my treatment is fantastic down here. I am nearly at the 4th Chemo ( Tuesday ) so I have until the end of next week to feel ok. After that its the dreaded aches and pains but I know it doesn't last forever,,
I hope your feeling ok and my number is xxx if you ever want a chat. xx
Hi everyone, this is my first post.
I have read your postings and would love to share with you all, as I am on the beginning of 'my journey'
Dot
I was diagnosed with early ovarian cancer four weeks ago following a total hysterectomy, there were tumours on both ovaries, I have an appointment for a kidney function test and another ct scan next Friday, if everything is ok I start taxolcarbo chemotherapy after that. I was told there will be six sessions with 3 weeks rest in between.
I do hope I am posting this in the right place, I am concerned about the chemo and hope to learn more through this forum
Dot
Hi Dot
Welcome to the site although it would be nice if you did not have to be here.
The waiting is always the worst part.Once you have your plan and things are underway it is easier to understand.I had breast cancer so can not advise you about your treatment but would like to wish you the very best of luck.Do keep coming on here for us to support you .good luck

Hi Rose,
thanks for responding to my post, I wish you well too

Hi Dot
Welcome to the forum though I wish you didn't have to be here. Early diagnosis is good, esp if not outside either ovary. I'm facing my second lot of chemo for ovarian cancer.
The waiting is the worst probably cos we fear it is growing while we wait but it doesn't grow that fast so I suggest that while your waiting you take the time to do the things you enjoy (prob not so easy when your post op). Try and go out for lunch with friends/family and enjoy the taste of food cause it will be awhile before it tastes as good again!
Hair loss is usually another big concern, think Eileen found it liberating, I found it hard till it happened then I was ok, think it was because I couldn't imagine myself without hair but once it happened and I could see it I was ok. Debating what to do this time round, its still very short but extremely curly so do I go have a number 2 or 3 all over or just leave it as it is? Would be tempted to shave it immediately post chemo but have 2 big do's on the 30th and 31st and it just might still be ok (these I people I haven't seen for years!). Plenty time to decide yet.............
If you read through the whole post you'll see Eileen, kathy and myself have all had or are having tax/carbo so post any fears or worries and we will do our best to help you
Best wishes
