hi i too would like to talk about breast cancer.

hi im 36 mother of 3 n diagnosed dec 23. ive had 2 ops n 5 of 6 chemo n finding it very hard at mo. feel so peed off n cant get rid of that feeling. would love to chat. x

  • Hi Linda,

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I'm a bit new to all this on-line chatter, makes a change to make my fingers work instead of my mouth.

Good news, the hospital think it's trauma due to an injury, I fell at the Race for life this year - did it while undergoing my chemo and a wee girl ran in front of me, tripped me up and I landed on my back, then I started back horseriding about 6 weeks ago and landed hard in the saddle one day, so hosp think this is the cause and nothing sinister, I go for an appoinment a week on Monday for the doc to talk me thru the results fully.

    onwards and upwards

  • Hey Maki,

We've all hit that particular brick wall, now push yourself away from it and rely on others (us included) to help you get over it, I chose to look at mine like hurdles instead of walls.  my 5th chemo was my worst one, so you see we've all got a bad day but don't you dare give up (I forbit it), this is your life and there's lots of us fighting the battle every day, you are not alone, find that finsh line and keep charging towards it, it's in sight if you look hard enough.

    Keep in touch

  • Hi i have been on this site for a while but havent really got into the chatting, just reading. A friend of mine told me to get on here and that it would help me  as you are all very supportive. I was diagnosed in Dec 09 with breast cancer, i had surgery, reconstuction, 6 chemo, 5 weeks of radio therapy and i am currently on tamoxifen.

I would love to chat with you all as i dont know where my head is at. I have a young son too, and trying to cope with things day to day is a struggle for me. AS some of you have said i am also very tired and i have no energy. I was looking for some advice. I have to back to my onogologist on Wednesday and some of you have said about getting a bone scan, do you think i should ask about this as my ankles ans wrists get extremely sore at times, but my gp said it was a side effecty from the tamoxifen, but i am now so worried in case this has spread to my bones. Can some help me as i have asked the doctors about the statistics of cancer coming back, and i do realise that no one can say if i will get secondary cancer, but unfotunately stories that i have read not only on this site but on other sites, women that i have talked to or read about who had grade 2 breast cancer and  a similar experience to me all seem to have had a secondary cancer. i would love to chat with you and find out your experiences as i have myself so worried and i woukld love to hear from you all. Thanks and love to you all.

  • Hi Elaine, try not to worry too much, what you are saying is a mirror image to myself, I was diagnosed on may 2010, lumpectomy, 6 sessions chemotherapy, 7 weeks of radio and also 5 years of tamoxifen, it def makes all my joints sore, when I get outmybed in the morn I'm like an oap lol but unfortunately that is one if the many side effects of the tamoxifen. If it makes you settle better then ask for the bone scan, tho when I asked my oncOlogist said it wasn't required. I feel tired too, but just remember our body has been through turmoil. Speak soon col x

  • Hi Elaine,  I've just been through the same treament schedule, diagnosed in Nov 10, mastectomy (and tissue expander implant) Dec 10, 6 chemo sessione, 5 weeks radio, 5 years tamoxifen. Joins ached for a few weeks but after being on the drugs a couple of months they eased, I also went back horse riding and walking, the more I move the more things eased off,  I did do a lot of resting and sleeping after the radio as I was totally knackered, but made myself do a bit every day to build back up, now going swimming once a week to.  Hang on in there it does get easier.  My back was really sore but I had fallen on it in May whilst going thru chemo, then started riding about 6 weeks ago and hit the saddle hard and jarred my back, at 1st oncology check up I mentioned this to the doc and as a precaution was sent for a bone scan.  it showed up 2 shadows on my spine, my follow up appointment isn't until 31st but I couldn't wait all that time for the results, so i phoned in and spoke to one of the nurses, she put my mind at ease, it's trauma shadows from the fall and nothing sinister. It's a worrying time but talk to your nurse and she can reassure you.  Things will ease off in time and you will get your energy back, just take it easy and set yourself a challenge of one thing a day, start with a wee walk if it's fine out, it'll lift your spirits.  Keep in touch and let me know how you're doing

  • Hi susan

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I just seem to be worrying so much at the minute. I have just been diagnosed with coeliac disease (i cant eat gluton) so until i get my diet sorted out with the doc's i cant really exersise to much, but i will definately get out there and do something everyone is telling me to do something so i do thimnk that is the way forward.

Thank you for the very kind words. I am at onogology appiontment on Wednesday so i will let you know how i get on. Keep me posted on you and how you are getting on.

    Thanks again

  • Hi colly,

thank you so much for getting back to me. Not to sound like a complete cow but it is nice to hear that someone else is having the problems that i am having it makes me feel less alone, not that i want anyone going through any kind of pain. Hopefully this will ease off soon. I am going to onogology on wednesday so i might say to them about the pains.

thanks again for getting back to me it is so nice to know that i am not alone.

    Thank you

  • Hi- I am new to this and have been a keen supporter of breast cancer research as I had been carer for a family friend of mine, who had fought breast cancer for 12 years and sadly passed away last year after the breast cancer relapsed..  She tried everything but I was annoyed at times when oncologists wasnt able to give any help/guidance beyond chemo etc..

However, one thing that kept her going was that she attended yoga lessions at Haven Group in Bristol - it made her feel less stress and tired and that was what kept her going...  I just had another friend who was diagnosed with grade1 breast cancer and had a surgery, she had been practising for yoga for years but find that she cant do her normal practice but she still wants to do something from home - are there any yoga resources - books/yoga instructors/videos that she willl be able to use/ find useful? I tried contacting Haven but they only provide lessons in the centre..

  • Hi Frances

Thanks for the info. Yeah a lot of poeple have told me to do yoga i will definately look into it.

    thanks

    xx

  • Hello ladies,

All seems very quiet on this thread...I am hoping that all is well and the silence is due to being busy or having a period of time forgetting the c word...I often do that for a week or two when my treatment allows.

Anyway, just checking in on all the lovely ladies on here!

    Much Love
