  • Hi Julia-M

I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Subungual is one of the less common types of melanoma but I do know a couple of people who suffer from this. As my melanoma is superficial spreading (the most common) I don't have any personal knowledge of subungual but I can reach out to those who do for advice etc. If you don't mind I will send you a friend request - if you accept it we can then chat by private message & share any help I can.

Meanwhile I hope your infection is responding to antibiotics (I had cellulitis 10 days after my full node clearance in my groin & pelvis & I know how you feel). Hopefully the lymph node results will come back clear & the immunotherapy will do it's job. It's good that your GP is treating your depression & hopefully the new medication will help. Can I suggest you consider contacting your local Macmillan Centre or Maggie's Centre if you have one - they provide counselling which may help. There is also a brilliant charity https://melanoma-me.org.uk/ who provide one to one counselling for melanoma patients, either in person (they are in the North East of England), by telephone or Zoom. The charity was set up by a melanoma patient and it's team of fully trained counsellors also provide Group sessions and Mindfullness & Meditation sessions.

If you haven't already found them, there is a also a charity called https://melanomafocus.org/ which you may found helpful.

    Take care,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
