Metastatic Prostate Cancer

Hi all,

76 yrs of age now, had a turp in 22, biopsy found 80% cancerous cells,

MRI followed, cancer metastised,

T3a, N0, M1a

Doc put me on hormones, Enzalutamide - 4 tablets daily, and once every 3 months Prostap injection.

Blood test every 3 months, since 22 shows 0.01

Doc is happy, testeron level obviously low? Libido, erection - gone!

Side effects the usual - hot flashes, muscular weakness,

Tired, low mood, sometimes panic or cry without a reason,

Still alive!

Anyone experiencing same quality of life?

Thanks,

  • Hi BeeGee18 and thank you for sharing your story,

I am sorry to hear that your cancer has metastasised but it's good news that the doctors are happy about how you are responding to treatment though it must be challenging to have to deal with these side effects.

You might be interested in reading our information on metastatic prostate cancer which includes a section on treatment for metastatic prostate cancer as well as useful tips on coping with metastatic prostate cancer

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have also had a metastatic prostate cancer diagnosis and that they will be along shortly to share with you what side effects they themselves experienced and how these affected their quality of life. Don't hesitate to talk to your GP about these issues you have been experiencing as they might be able to help and have some good suggestions for you to improve  things like the tiredness you are experiencing, the low mood and the hot flushes

We also have a free helpline number you can ring on 0808 800 4040 - it is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a call if there's anything you want to talk through at any time.

    Best wishes,
