Neck cancer - cancer has spread to lymph nodes. Had surgery but need immunotherapy to make sure it's all gone. I'm so scared

I had a tumour on my tongue and the cancer has spread to my lymph nodes,  I've had chemo and radiation and just recently had surgery on the left side of my neck to remove still affected lymph nodes but he found alot more of it had spread, I'm going on to immunotherapy, but I'm scared, he said they want to be sure they got it all out.

  • Welcome to the forum Joolsg, although I'm sorry to hear your cancer has spread and that you now need immunotherapy.

I know how scary this must be, but I hope the information I've included about this course of treatment will help to ease your mind about what's to come.

Quite a few of our members have had immunotherapy as part of their cancer treatment, so hopefully you will get to hear about their experiences soon but if you'd like to have a chat with one of our cancer nurses about this, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They will do all they can to answer your questions and support you whilst you wait for your treatment to begin.

We're wishing you all the best with your immunotherapy Joolsg and we'll have our fingers crossed it successfully removes those remaining cancer cells.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
