Fatigue

Hello, I'm currently having treatment for bowel cancer, with mets also into the lining of my stomach. It's been a bumpy road so far, with my first treatment being stopped due to severe sickness, etc. I'm now into my second round of chemo on my new regime but I'm feeling so, so fatigued. I don't have much energy or indeed enthusiasm most days. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Amelia

I think everyone with cancer on this forum will agree with you that fatigue is a major side effect of both treatment and cancer itself also having little enthusiasm to do anything at all including enjoyable activities. I find fatigue is at its worst for a few days after treatment. The remedy for it is gentle excercise, whatever is managable, regular bedtime and importantly getting up time. Good balanced diet, the usual (by plate area) 25% carbohydrate 25% protein 50% vegetables/fruit. Some bright sunlight helps ( I know its winter) and Vitamin D3. Contact with people is important. There is no magic bullet but I find the above helps.
