VIN3 surgery

I have just had my 3rd operation to remove VIN3 cancer cells and a small amount of cells that had become cancer.im on my 2nd week of resting,  and ive been using a sitz bath to clean the areas.

Even though ive been trying to keep areas clean and dry,  ive picked up a infection . Luckily the consultant gave me some antibiotics incase this happened.

Im due to go back to work soon and im a bit worried about returning,  not looking forward for the 101 questions really. I feel its this part of my life is private and I only need to discuss it with my family. Not  at work, I shouldn't have to explain things to anyone else.

Am I wrong in thinking this?? It's so hard to cope and deal with, when your in this situation.

  • Hello Blondeworrior4,

Oh no I am so sorry to hear you picked up an infection but it sounds like you were prepared in case this happened and I hope that the antibiotics will do the trick and that it will clear quickly!

I hope that you are recovering well from the operation and getting plenty of rest and that the sitz bath has been helping. Give yourself the time you need to fully recover.

It's normal to be worried about returning to work and to fear being asked questions that you don't really feel like answering and you are right this part of your life is private and you only need to discuss it with whoever you feel comfortable with. Colleagues will hopefully be discreet and respect your privacy and you should only share what you feel comfortable telling them. You are not wrong at all in thinking this and I am sure you can tell them nicely that you don't feel like talking about your time off work when you were recovering from surgery but that instead you want to focus on moving on and getting back to work. I think as you get back into your work routine, everyone around you will soon forget about it after a few days so try not to worry too much and I hope that the return to work will go smoothly!

Best wishes for a quick and full recovery,
