I can't sleep - does anyone else have difficulty sleeping?

Hi  here is anyone like me cant sleep

  • Hi Pirka,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat though I am so sorry you found yourself here when you were unable to sleep - this is sadly the case for many other members of our community. The night can be a time when our minds struggle to switch off and racing thoughts can be become overwhelming. Luckily our forum never sleeps and you are welcome to post on here whenever you feel like reaching out to others who are also struggling at night and getting recurrent thoughts.

Could you tell us a little bit more about your cancer story if you don't mind? We would love to know more about how you have been affected by cancer and if you wanted to talk to one of our cancer nurses about anything at any point, they have a free helpline you can ring on 0808 800 4040 Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi Pirka

You are not alone, There are millions of people all over the world who not even suffering illness who have the same problem. Firstly try not to make sleep happen. Avoid going to bed earlier or trying to sleep in the morning. Accept wakefulness and don’t get scared or angry if you don’t sleep. You can get benefits by just resting. Acknowledge difficult thoughts and don’t try to turn them away. Sleep will come if you stop trying to make it happen.
