Hard to walk and joints ache since starting Herceptin jabs, Alendronic acid and Letrozole. Has anyone else had these side effects?

Stage 1 Breast Cancer Her2+ finished my 6 rounds of chemo and 5 days of radiotherapy in October. Now 3 weekly Herceptin jabs and Alendronic Acid and Letrozole. Thought things would start to be on the up but are progressively getting worse. I don't feel tired, my joints are extremely weak, struggle to open jars and petrol cap on car, can hardly walk up and down stairs. Anyone else had these side effects and know which one of the 3 it could be linked to.  I seem to get 1 day every 3 weeks where I can walk normal again.

  • Hi DJStratty,

I noticed you haven't had a reply just yet so I wanted to welcome you to Cancer Chat and reassure you that your post has been seen.

I'm really sorry to hear about the side effects you've been contending with. It sounds like you're dealing with a lot and it must be very challenging.

Quite a lot of our members have contended with similar issues so hopefully some of them will share their thoughts, experiences and advice with you soon but in the meantime I hope this information we have about the side effects of Letrozole and managing fatigue will be useful.

If you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

If you haven't done so already, do let your medical team know about these side effects as well as they will do all they can to make this more manageable for you.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
