Body odour with chemo

Done 3 rounds of chemo, 3 more to go, and I find that I have a distinct body odour, slightly metallic. Pee smells the same but stronger. Just an observation. Explains why I currently have an obsession with scented candles.

  • Hi Ysta,

This does seem to be something that is not uncommon. My reply here will give your post a little boost, so a few more people should see it. Hopefully you'll get more replies, particularly if others have similar experience to share.

Hopefully it isn't bothering you too much, but if at any point you wanted to speak to someone then you are always welcome to speak to our nurses. You can do this either by posting in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum, or by calling freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • It might be your taste buds being messed up.
I found that even my favourite whisky smelt and tasted like petrol whilst I was on chemo. Strong chili and curry tasted really bland too.
Things slowly returned to normal in the first two months after my chemo ended.
