Effects of rectal cancer

I have been diagnosed with rectal cancer.  For the last 6 weeks or so my bowel movements have been difficult;  pressure in the bowel which needs to be relieved quickly and is explosive;  been wakened in the night  up to 6 time to rush to the loo.   Any suggestions as to how to ease the pressure ?     Chris34

  • Hi Chris

I too have rectal cancer and have been through all the toilet fun and games ,not funny at all , have you got oralmorph ? It helped  me.

I have just had stoma op and am getting used to it. No pain now, next up is radiotherapy to try and shrink tumour , mine is terminal but this may give me some more time and a better quality of life.

Take care and try to be positive, you are not alone.

    All the best

    Tony

  • Hi Tony, thanks for your supportive message.   My situation is also terminal.  I am seeing a palliative nurse shortly and will mention the oralmorph, thanks.

    Best wishes

    Chris
