  • Hello Ollyorjack and welcome to the forum.

I noticed you haven't had a reply just yet and as it's now been 8 days since you had your hysterectomy, I wanted to check in on you and see how you're getting on.

I do hope your recovery is going well but if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch with your medical team for information and advice.

We also have a team of cancer nurses you can call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

Being in shock from everything that has happened is completely understandable, and natural, Ollyorjack so be kind to yourself at this time and give yourself the time and space you need to process what you have been through.

Our members know how overwhelming this can be, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will offer their support and advice to you soon.

We're thinking of you Ollyorjack and wishing you all the best with your recovery.

  • Hi ollyorjack,

hope you are recovering well. I’ve just been diagnosed with atypical endometrial hyperplasia and I’m also in shock and very confused on possible treatment options.  I’m 51 and have not gone through menopause.  What I was wondering was how you chose a hysterectomy rather than hormonal treatments.

  • Hi cherio, sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with atypical endometrial hyperplasia. When they found my diagnosis they did not give me a choice, they said good news not cancer yet,but will develope into it and because I had the menopause and have 2 lovely sons,it was the best thing to have done.Have you been offered hysterectomy,I'm 9 days out from recovery.

  • They have offered me what they call the ‘gold standard’ treatment of a hysterectomy but I’m waiting on my MRI to take place. They have found a small focal point of stage 1 from the blind biopsy, but I really don’t want to have all my insides removed or go through a surgical menopause. I’m hoping that the spot they found was removed with the biopsy (living in hope). I’m finding the waiting to get things done very hard. I just wanted to get on with things.  I don’t know how I will be able to make the decision as concerned about the impacts it will have on my physically and mentally.

  • Which country do you live in,I've never heard of the gold standard treatment, the waiting is hard and I know making a decision is also hard when u are given the facts, having my operation was taken out of my hands,,so far I've not had surgical menopause,, perhaps that because I was past all that, the operation was not too bad, very slow recovery, and I now have infection,I hope you come to the right decision for you

  • I’m in wales, Uk. I think they are using that saying as a sales pitch.

i hope your infection is sorted quickly and you start to feel better.

  • I'm in England, yes sounds like a sales pitch, that was the way I got told about my hysterectomy, thank you hopefully antibiotics  will kick in .
