Living with two different cancers - in remission from multiple myeloma but I also have stage 3 ovarian cancer. Is anyone else going through the same?

Hi I just wondered if anyone has multiple myeloma that is in remission at the moment and how are you. What do you find most difficult on a daily basis.  I also have stage 3 Ovarian cancer.  I have had 3 chemos, operation then 3 more chemos.  It is stable at the moment but I have fatigue, get very tired doing just a few things and can’t walk too far.  I had hoped to have more energy as last chemo was in February.  Is there anymore going through the same as me.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, piperboy21.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re dealing with both multiple myeloma and stage 3 ovarian cancer. That sounds incredibly tough, and it’s completely understandable that you’re feeling worn out and frustrated by your energy levels.

Fatigue is very common after chemotherapy, even some months later, and many people here say that everyday things can feel exhausting. It can be difficult when you were hoping to feel more like yourself by now. Some people find it helpful to pace themselves, breaking tasks into smaller parts, and accepting that it’s okay to ask for help when needed.

I hope that others who have gone through similar experiences will be here soon to share their tips and support. If you’d like to talk with someone over the phone, our nurses are available Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 0808 800 4040.

Take care of yourself and try to take things slowly, one step at a time.

    All the best,

  • Thank you, I do try to pace myself but just doing the smallest thing makes me so tired

  • Hi piperboy21

Im in remission from Multiple Myeloma, and now on a trial maintenance drug. I had my auto stem cell transplant September 2024.

It is a long process to recover and I still get tired now. I find it good to just go for walks each day even if its just for 20mins,even going window shopping. if you can get a indoor pedal bike even better. Some days I feel that I can conquer the world but will get tired very quickly again. You will have good days and not so good days but push on as you're in remission so something good is happening to you.

On a not so good day theres always something to watch on tv best to choose something funny as its less brain taxing.

Im sure you will get there as time will fly by for you.
