Mastectomy....worried about recovery

Hello,

I have been worried and feeling really stressed about my upcoming mastectomy surgery.  I have had a lumpectomy surgery before and the recovery was straightforward.  I couldn't wait for the last surgery because I wanted to tumour out asap.  This time is different, I have found out I have the gene mutation and the bilateral mastectomy is recommended to reduce reoccurrence.  I am confident in my decision to have the mastectomy and reconstruction, I can't find much info on what to expect with regards to the recovery.  I'm having an expander implant put in  that requires a few visits to the hospital to fill up before the second surgery post 6 months to put in the actual implant.  I have had radiotherapy in the past and I think that impacts healing too.

Is the recovery painful and how will it impact my day today for first few weeks?

any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated x
