Etoposide - starting treatment tomorrow. Are there any hair care products or cleaning products I should avoid whilst I'm on this?

I'm starting Etoposide tomorrow. I had chemotherapy last year and I read a lot of information about the need to use natural products, and to be cautious when using cleaning products. I can't seem to find this information now. Obviously I'll be cautious, but are there any hair care products, or cleaning products I should avoid?

  • Hello Jade and welcome to our forum.

Starting Etoposide can feel like a significant step, and it’s understandable to want to take extra care with your hair and cleaning products.

Many find that gentle, fragrance-free options for hair and skincare help them feel more comfortable, but it’s always good to choose products that suit your personal preferences and sensitivities. When it comes to cleaning products, some prefer to use natural or milder options to create a more soothing environment.

If you have any concerns or specific questions about the products you’re considering, reaching out to your healthcare team can provide reassurance and tailored advice.
There is also some information about Etoposide on our website if you feel like having a read.

The other thing I wanted to mention is that our team of nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm if speaking with someone medically trained on the phone might help.

Wishing you strength and support as you begin your treatment.

    Best wishes,
