DC therapy - is it available on the NHS? Trying to find out if my wife may be eligible for this treatment

Is DC therapy available on the NHS? ,

My wife has 2 primary cancers, secondary breast cancer which is in her bones and appears to be controlled by the drugs she has been prescribed. She also has cervical cancer which has stopped responding to chemotherapy. The oncologist seems to think we are at the end of the road as far as treatment is concerned and seems to be more interested in making her comfortable than treating the cancer.

I am very keen to find out if she is eligible for trials for DC therapy, or if there are any private clinics who can offer this treatment.

Many thanks

  • A very warm welcome to the forum Tafster, although I'm sorry to hear about your wife. This must be a very difficult time.

When you mention DC therapy, do you mean dendritic cell therapy? If so you can find out more about this treatment, and what clinical trials are available, on our website.

I hope you'll find this information useful but if it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and they will do all they can to answer your questions.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position will share their experiences and advice with you soon, but in the meantime we're thinking of you and sending you both all our strength and support.

    Kind regards,
