Hi Kev
What immunotherapy drug is being recommended for you and which type of cancer do you have. There are many on this forum who will be able to give you more precise information for your type of cancer and treatment.
I've been on Cemiplimab for metastatic Cutaneous Squamous Cell Cancer (skin) for 9 months now and it has greatly slowed the progression of the cancer, with very few side effects. Out of the long and scary list I get a skin rash and suffer from fatigue both of which are maneagable. I have a very good quality of life and can do most of what I could do previously.
I visit the hospital 3 weekly for an infusion takes 90 minutes all in with 30 minutes for the actual infusion. A blood test 3 weekly a telephone consultation 3 weekly and an injection 6 weekly. It is an easy regime for the benefits to be had.
If you have the chance I would recommend starting the therapy, you will be closely monitored and have a 24 hour contact number for advice. If it does not agree with you it can be discontinued.
