Kidney cancer

I have been diagnosed with blaterial Transitional cell carcinoma in my kidneys.   I have had 6 weeks treatment of mitomycin but that is all thats on offer. Latest scan showed right tumour had grown  and I now only have one option of removing both kidneys.  I know this is my only chance of survival but I am terrified. X

  • Welcome to our forum, Tyzer

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

You’ve already been through six weeks of treatment and it must be so disheartening to hear that the tumour has grown despite that

You’re not alone in feeling scared, and I hope others here who’ve been through something similar will share their experiences and how they coped with a big decision like this. If it helps, there’s some information about kidney cancer on our website, including what it might mean to live without your kidneys.

And if you feel it might help to talk things through, our nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. They’re here to support you and can help answer any questions you might have about the road ahead.

Last but not least, please remember we’re always here if you need a chat.

    All the best,
