Really bad indigestion 5 days after 1st chemo/immuno

Hi, can anyone give any tips on dealing with really painful on & off indigestion?

My partner had his first immunotherapy and chemotherapy last Friday (Durvalumab & Gem/Cis), he hasn't had as many side effects as we thought he'd gave other than fatigue and occasional nausea until this afternoon when he started getting really bad indigestion. He's had lansoprazole and gaviscon advance & has been drinking water. Has anyone been through similar, did anything help?

Thanks so much

  • Welcome to the forum, Hopefulnetty.
It’s good to hear that your partner hasn’t had too many side effects so far, but I’m sorry to hear he’s now struggling with painful indigestion. That kind of discomfort can really knock you, especially when you’re already dealing with the effects of chemo and immunotherapy.
Hopefully others here who’ve had a similar experience will spot your post and share what helped them manage it. If things don’t settle or seem to get worse, it might be worth checking in with your partner’s medical team just so they can advise you properly based on his treatment. Our team of nurses are a ring away if you ever feel the need to chat with someone else medically trained on the phone. They are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
    Best wishes to you both,

  • Hi, I had different chemotherapy and immunotherapy but developed the most painful indigestion. I was already taking Lansoprazole 30mg once  then twice daily and gaviscon. The Gp changed it esomeprazole twice daily. I started to get some relief after a few days. Although I don’t feel like eating much, I’ll eat some nice dry bread (which I like) so that my stomach isn’t too empty
