Trying to deal with my 4th cancer

Hi , I’ve just been diagnosed with bladder cancer after 3 months in remission , I’ve had prostate cancer , had the prostate removed , then diagnosed with cancer in my kidney that had to be removed with everything attached to it , then  diagnosed with cancer in my muscles and tissues in my torso .
Had chemo for that , then my bloods dropped so had to have blood transfusions . Two months after I was given the all clear . Then on my 2nd appointment in June checking my bladder they found 2 lumps , it has set me back , tend to be comfort eat  to try and make myself feel better , keep myself active but started to put weight back on . Struggling it this time , just tired all the time , any ideas how to drag myself out of this . This has all happened over the last 2 years

  • Hi Wally5,

Poor you having had to deal with 4 cancers and I am sorry to hear you were diagnosed with bladder cancer just 3 months after being in remission. I can imagine finding that out was a bit of a blow for you and the comforting eating due to stress and anxiety can be a coping mechanism that may cause long term issues like weight gain or unhealthy diets. Talk to your GP about it if you are worried about this and I am sure they will be able to give you some good advice. Keeping active is a good idea, sometimes even going for a walk can do wonders to our mental wellbeing.

You have been through so much for the last 2 years and it's completely understandable that it is taking its toll on your physical and mental wellbeing. I think a good first port of call would be to talk to your GP about how tired you are feeling and how you are struggling - don't hesitate to go into detail on how this has been affecting you.

I also wanted you to know that you are not alone and there are other members of our community who have sadly had to deal with multiple cancers. I hope that they will be along shortly to share their story and experience with you as it helps to talk to others who truly understand what you are going through and how you are feeling as they have been there themselves.

Feel free to reach out too to our nurse free helpline if there is anything you would like to ask them. You can call them Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
