Hi I will be having my first paclitaxel tomorrow and the every week for the next 11 weeks. Has anyone experience of wearing cold therapy gloves and sock pads (suzipads) during treatment to try and prevent possible side effect of neuropathy.?

Hello Linpoppy,
I hope your first dose of paclitaxel went ok and don't be afraid to ask questions like this or raise any concerns with your team during the 11 weeks. If you'd like more information, there is guidance around paclitaxel on our website, including how it works and possible side effects .
I hope this is useful and do let us know how you get on.
Best wishes,

Hi Anastasia
I got on well with my first dose of paclitaxel. However I woke up this morning with red cheeks and nose and my face feels warm. It's now 15.40pm and I still look a bit flushed but not as red as earlier. Is this something to be concerned about. Also during the night I woke up a few times with a terrible thirst and drank 2 pints of water which meant a few visits to the toilet.
Hey, I have just finished 12 pax. First dose was fine and #2 did very similar to what you say.
Chances are it's going to be a rash. Very common side effect.
Irritating, but manageable - my team gave me steroid cream, clorphenamine, and dermol emollient cream. Suggest calling your Acute Oncology team. It may spread to the body, but it will go after treatment! I'd also look at the 'MooGoo' brand, as that is pretty good for aftercare.
And yes, the thirst is also common side effect, but good to flush the chemo through
Thank you Lano for your reply. I did call acute oncology team and they suggested taking antihistamine which I did and it worked. Ive been using MooGoo products from the start and its a brilliant product I buy the cancer pack cheaper on line than in Holland and Barratt. Ive also been wearing Suzzi Pads for hands and feet which is supposed to help prevent neuropathy since starting Paclitaxel. Ive still 10 sessions to go. Will put on here if I've found them to be any good
Have you to have any further treatment. I will get results of mri and ct scan on 4th September.
