Anxiety - worried if my treatment is going to work. Cancer removed from left lung 2 years ago, but now a different type of cancer has been found in my right

I’m struggling with anxiety really bad

  • Hi Joyce,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your anxiety. Have you had a cancer diagnosis? This is so hard to cope with. Have you spoken to your cancer nurse or GP about how you feel? They might consider prescribing a mild anti-depressant to help you out. The other thing you might consider is seeing a counsellor. They can often help to talk you through your thought process and help you to deal with things better. Do you have a Maggie's Centre near you? They offer free counselling to cancer patients and this can be very helpful. If you don't have a Maggie's Centre nearby, there are other cancer charities who offer this service too. You ,may need to ask your specialist nurse or GP to point you in the direction of one of these centres, as many of the local ones go under different names.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get n. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Jolsmine for you advice I will look into those options

I had lung cancer 2 years ago it was in left lower lobe and was successfuly removed with no other treatment needed
My routine scan in June showed a different kind of cancer in right lung with no option for operation to remove

iv started chemo and radiation treatment and finding it difficult to sleep and very anxious worrying if this is going to work

I have suffered from anxiety for over 30 years and can normally sort it but really struggling Im not really a fan of medication as had a bad experience a long time ago when prescribed diazepam and struggled for 2 years to come off them

    thanks again Joyce
