Just started taking Letrozole. Could the tablets be causing the issues I'm having with my vagina? Very annoying

I have been put on Letrozole on it for a few months after Radiotherapy. I feel okay apart from an itch and an odd sensation in my vagina, doc has given me cream and pressaries but doesn't see to help. Could it be the tablets that cause this or is it cystitis. Very annoying.

Jist wanted to check if anyone else is experienced this.

Thanks

  • Hi Sally90,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like you've already spoken to the doctor about this, but do keep in touch with them as and when you need to.

You may also find it helpful to speak to our nurses. If you'd like to do this, you can either post in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum, or call freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

My reply will give your post a little boost, so if there are others with similar experience or thoughts to share then hopefully they'll see your post and send a reply.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi Sally, I have had 3 lots of radiotherapy, in the last 7 years, the last round in March this year. I kept having dryness and sores around the vulva.  I went to the drs twice and got different opinions so I paid to see a gynaecologist privately.  Turns out I have lichen sclerosis, caused partly by stress and exacerbated by wearing pads for incontinence caused by the radiotherapy. This probably isn't what you have but it would be worth trying to get a referral to a gynaecologist to get a definitive diagnosis
