Hello,
I hope everyone on here is managing OK.
I got diagnosed with cancer while having my ovaries removed, and then went on to have a full hysterectomy and five months of chemotherapy. The chemo was incredibly tough, and although I’m now a year on from treatment, I’m finding some things harder than I expected.
One of the biggest challenges has been weight gain. I gained quite a bit during chemo and haven’t been able to shift it since. I’ve really committed to trying. I’ve changed my diet as much as i can but its far from perfect. I drink loads of water, I’ve tried exercise but am still only able to manage 15 mins of walking daily, I’ve invested in wellness routines, supplements, and healing therapies. But despite all of that, the weight won’t budge. I was taken off HRT cold turkey the day I started chemo. It’s really affecting how I feel in my body and my confidence. I dread the idea that this might be permanent. Plus I worry even more about being obese as it makes the risk of more cancer increase.
I know I’m not alone in this, but it can feel that way sometimes. If anyone else has struggled with post-chemo weight gain or is still struggling or has even solved this problem, I’d really love to hear your story. Even just to know I’m not the only one feeling this stuck and frustrated would help so much.
Thanks for reading,
