Breast cancer/radiotherapy

Hi 

I am due to have surgery for breast cancer, a lumpectomy as well as a full lymph node clearance.  I am looking for anyone who could advise me or if they have been through this experience, how long after did they have radiotherapy. Also how long did you have to have radiotherapy for? I realise each person's cases are different but just looking for any rough idea would be appreciated.

    • Hi, just finished 5 sessions of radiotherapy. I have arthritis so found it very difficult to maintain the arm position for the 20 to 30 minutes required. My advice would be do arm and shoulder exercises before you begin treatment, if you get sore take a pain relief tablet before the session and practice holding your breath for 25secs. Hope it all goes well.
