Issues with arm after breast surgery

I had lumpectomy in December thought all was going well. But now I’m having real issues with the affected arm-can’t put it behind my back, can’t straighten it in the air, shooting pains. I’ve phoned GP they said go back to cancer centre. They said self refer for physiotherapy that has 26 week wait. Who am I supposed to ask? It’s affecting my normal day to day tasks

    Hi Mummymartin,

    I am sorry to hear that you are having this trouble. It sounds as if the cancer centre has referred you on the regular wait for physio. It might be worth asking if they can refer you for a more urgent appointment, as this should come through much sooner. Please let us know how you get on. I do hope that the pain resolves soon.

    Hi there I must be lucky. I had phone call today and first physio session 24th June. They read my issue and moved me to the top of triage pile. I think it’s more than a physio issue but at least they can refer me on. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket!

    Hi Mummymartin,

    I am delighted to hear this. It's a matter of staying in the system for now. If the physio considers that you need a different medical  professional, they will refer you on. You should definitely buy a lotter ticket!
