Starting radio therapy after skin cancer

Hi I’m new to this group. I’ve had Squamous Cell carcinoma removed from my nose . Big margins so needed a skin graft taken from collarbone. Results came back that margins underneath were not deep enough, resulting in cancer cells in nasal cartilage area. Opted for radio therapy instead of more surgery.. my question is how long are waiting times to be seen by oncology team . My plastic surgeon referred me yesterday , when do you think the therapy will start? I have many emotions going around, I’m thinking about my sick note , I live around Newcastle area. . Thanks any advice in this process will be greatly appreciated.. x

  • Hi HJ123,

Welcome to Cancer Chat and I hope you are getting on OK.

It's difficult to advise on your question, as this often depends on each individual case, as well as the waiting times in each particular hospital. Usually the person referring would give some idea of how long to expect to wait. If you haven't been given this information and feel you'd like to know more, you could give your doctor a call to ask.

I hope it's not long for you to wait to find out more. We are always here for support whenever you need it, and hopefully the forum can be of some support to you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
