Further surgery after breast cancer

Hi all I’m just interested in others experiences of getting a reduction and lift on the ‘healthy’ breast after having mastectomy and implant on the other side.
4 years ago I had my left breast removed and an implant reconstruction. I did chemo, radiotherapy and am nearly half way through my 10 years of hormone therapy.
My left reconstructed breast sits higher than the right and is smaller. After considering many surgery options, for now I’ve chosen a lift and reduction on the right. I know it won’t be perfect but might be more comfortable.

Has anyone else had anything similar? If so what were your experiences? I’ve found going back in and talking about surgery has left me a little unsettled and I e been quite tearful as I think it’s bringing things back up also.

  • Hello rmscj

I'm sorry to hear about all that you've previously been through treatment for breast cancer. It's understandable that your recent appointment regarding further surgery on your non-affected breast has brought up some difficult emotions and left you feeling unsettled.

Hopefully someone who has been through this planned surgery will be along to share their experiences with you. If you think it may help to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope that the surgery and recovery go well for you.

    Best wishes,
