Lymphedema

Hello - I’ve recently had all the nodes removed from my right arm put … and was rewarded with swelling!!! I’m wondering what people find effective. I’ve looked into but not tried dry brushing. Just wondering if there are other miniature rituals that could help. Thank you.

  • Hi Lotsofnoodles,

Poor you, I can imagine that swelling is rather unpleasant! We have a useful section on our website on lymphoedema and cancer which I hope you will find useful including in-depth  information on treating lymphoedema

There are many other members of our community who have also been affected by lymphoedema and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their stories with you and they may have some tips to share based on what worked best for them. If you wanted to talk to our cancer nurses about this or have any questions for them, don't hesitate to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you find something that works for you and which will effectively reduce the swelling.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi. I have lymphedema on my left side due to nodes removed under my arm. I find sitting with it raised where I can helps, making sure I’m moving it and as you mentioned dry brushing and lots of moisturising. Massaging my arm upwards is always helpful too. I was referred to the lymphedema clinic which was really helpful for tips as well and have compression garments. These are the only things that have majorly helped longer term so far.
