New cancer spread

After 5 good years of life living with lung cancer I have just received terrible news. My latest scan results show that the cancer has now moved to my liver, spleen, spine and bones. I had thought that they would say it was in my bones as I was in excruciating pain in my hip all over Christmas, my GP had diagnosed severe arthritis. I have lived with arthritis for years and I just knew it was more than that. I was shocked that it is so widespread after a prior scan 3 months earlier had shown nothing except in my left lung and that it was still stable. Yesterday I went for a liver biopsy to determine what kind of cancer it is so they can make a treatment plan. My oncologist has said that I can have another course of immunotherapy and if it works as well as it did for my lung then I could still have a few good years left. There's also a possibility that radiation could help and injections to strengthen my bones. I am taking every little bit of positivity that I can from this news.  My oncologist is on top of everything and I trust him so, we start a new battle, one day and one step at a time, just like before. I am still living with cancer , not dying from it x

  • I'm really sorry to hear your lung cancer has spread to several parts of your body Angelicghost.

This must have been very difficult and upsetting news to receive, especially with your scan 3 months earlier being clear, but I'm glad you can have treatment and hopefully you won't have to wait too long to find out what your plan of action will be.

I hope some of our members will stop by soon for a chat and to offer you their support and advice, but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all that they can to help.

  • Thank you so much. I've got my head round this news now and my family and friends are so supportive of me. I really am blessed that I have so many good people in my life but it's also nice to know that I have support here too.
