Possible recurrence of basal cell after two months

I just had Moh’s surgery in the beginning of September to remove a basal cell carcinoma on my nose. It took 3x for her to get it all-5 hour process. After a month I noticed a lump by my incision line and waited to see if it was a stitch that still hadn’t dissolved underneath the skin. I went in today and the surgeon removed the lump under my scar line from the last surgery. she tried to extract it but couldn’t,  so she did a shave biopsy. It’s rare for this type of cancer to come back so quickly. I’m hoping it comes back benign.

  • Hi Elizabeth30,

How stressful that you noticed this lump so soon after your surgery and it can be hard to know whether it is indeed a stitch that hasn't dissolved or something else so it's good you kept an eye on it and you did very well to show this to the surgeon. I hope that you won't have to wait too long for the results of the shave biopsy. I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all comes back benign. Waiting for test results is very stressful and I thought I would share with you these top tips to help you cope during this time of uncertainty.

Let us know what you find out if you get a chance. I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been through something similar before.

    Best wishes,
