Does anyone have any tips that could help my partner cope with their exhaustion?

My partner had MDS which left him constantly exhausted. That developed into AML and with chemo he is in remission. Can anyone give any tips on how to alleviate the ever present tiredness and lethargy. Anything he can take?

  • Hi Prat,

It's good news that your partner is currently in remission from AML but I am so sorry to hear that he is feeling so exhausted and lethargic. You will find on our website an in-depth section on cancer related tiredness (fatigue) where you will read useful tips on managing and treating fatigue

I am not sure what the best course of action would be for your partner to tackle this extreme fatigue but I think it would be a good idea to get in touch with your partner's GP about this as they will have all his medical notes and know exactly what caused the fatigue and how best to combat it given his specific circumstances. So do reach out to his doctor or medical team and I am sure that they will have some very good advice for you.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a call and they may have some good tips for you or they will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Many of our members will be no strangers to this intense exhaustion you describe and I hope that they will be along shortly to share with you what worked best for them. I hope that things improve for him and that he feels less exhausted soon.

    Best wishes,
