Side effects

Hi all. My mam received a diagnosis of an oesophageal melenoma back in May. She has since had three round of immunotherapy that unfortunately has caused horrific coilitis amongst other problems. So much so they have stopped it permanently. It’s one thing to know we are now living with an incurable cancer , but I’d do anything to get her home from hospital and eating a better for as long as she can. She is only starting back in solid food after a period of bowel rest in TPN. Does anyone have any tips for foods they found easy to manage if suffering coilitis / bowel troubles.

  • Ailey, I'm really sorry to hear your mam's treatment has been stopped due to what happened. This must be a very difficult time for you both.

I hope this information we have about managing diet problems will help but if you'd like to have a chat with one of our cancer nurses about this, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help you and your mam at this time.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in this position will share their suggestions and advice with you soon as well.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
