Hello All
I have early gleason 7 (3+4) prostate cancer currently on surveillance
My PSA more recently started going up and an MRI said "slight progression" - I thought about going onto radiotherapy but was also offered a new trial run from Bedford and Cambridge Hospitals. (The research doctors gave me this link to the official website)
They called it the UK Yourphyto Trial and involved taking a capsule which had 6 different concentrated foods as well as a probiotic or a placebo. They then asked about my waterworks, erection and even measured my grip strength on top of blood test and scans.
Since the end of my time in the study, my PSA has now dropped a little and stabalised. A repeat MRI is also stabilised again. I'm please with this and also that the amount of times I got up a night reduced from 3 to 2. The trials doctors commented that this was happening to most men. Although I know I was on the food capsule, I was not sure if I was on the probiotic They tell me the results will be published in January - presumably I will find out then?
At the end of the study they gave me a dietary advice sheet but no more supplements. They said that they cannot be prescribed because they were classed as foods
I was wondering, if anyone else has similar experiences with this trial, what they thought about it (apparently nearly 300 men entered) and what they are doing after it finished?
