Breast cancer

Hi I have just been diagnosed with her2 positive grade 3 breast cancer.  Seems I need chemotherapy first then surgery.  I'm actually overwhelmed.  Has anyone had this particular cancer that could make me understand what's going to happen.  I have also been advised to quit cigarettes.  I am honestly really scared

  • Hi Minnie, sorry to hear about your diagnosis, it is scary when you're first diagnosed. I was diagnosed with grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma in January and I'm also HER2 positive. I finished my chemo in July and am due to have a mastectomy with diep flap reconstruction in a couple of weeks. Feel free to ask any questions you have, take care. Xx

  • Thank you for your reply I really appreciate it.  I needed to  hear from someone else with the same diagnoses.  I was really overwhelmed yesterday with all the news they gave me. They have told me the chemotherapy will be hard. It's just nice to hear from someone who got through it. Thanks Pipin xx

  • Try not to worry too much about the chemo and stay positive. I started walking 2 1/2 miles every day, which is great for the mindset. I eat healthily gave up alcohol, the whole time I was going through chemo. I had minimal side effects throughout my treatment. Xx

  • Hi Minnie, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I had Her2 and estrogen positive breast cancer in 2021. I also had chemo prior to surgery and further treatment. Alongside the chemo I had a Herceptin injection which was for the HER2.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

  • I have the same had 11 rounds of chemo 6 rounds of radiotherapy still on treatment to stop it spreading its hard but stick with it one day at a time

  • Thank you . I actually had surgery yesterday turmor bigger than they thought results 2 weeks.  Had a lumpectomy and don't know the right words basically half my breast gone.  Chemotherapy and radiation to follow don't know when. Oncology made the decision surgery first.

  • HI, I  have recently been diagnosed with ibc.  Hoping to start chemo either this week or next dependant on when I can have my muga scan (prescribed Phesgo so need to check heart first)  Some days are more overwhelming than others.  I could have cried all day after first appointment with oncologist - there seemed to be a lot of stuff being thrown at me.  Anyway think I may have 6 rounds of chemo (hopefully will get this confirmed on my telephone appointment with oncologist this week then mastectomy 4 to 6 weeks later all being well.  Long and hard journey ahead but I'm sure we can do it

  • I was diagnosed on 9/11 and have had 2 sessions of chemo , I’m due 8 in total followed by surgery and I’m terrified , why me , I’ve never smoked , I don’t drink , I breast fed my children , I’ll m only 61 I’m not ready to die

  • Hi still waiting to start treatment altho being told  ibc is very progressive.  Delay caused by referral for Muga scan  going astray between hospitals!!!   Appointment now booked for Monday, picc being fitted Tuesday and face to face meeting with Oncologist on Wed with a view to starting Chemo Friday.  Must admit I have chased and queried things if I havent had a response within a reasonable time.  It seemed to have worked.  Getting worried because experiencing pain in breast and armpit.

  • I've just had exactly the same diagnosis.

Her2 positive, left breast , oestrogen negative

    Lymph nodes positive

Waiting on letter to meet oncology team.

    It's a roller coaster!
