Breast Cancer

Hello All

I am new to the forum. I have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer - DCIS. I feel my world has tuned upside down, finding it challenging to comprehend. Although trying to take it one day at a time, however it is quite difficult. I have been seen by the breast surgeon and plastic surgeon, just awaiting a date for surgery for a mastectomy and a DIEP Flap.

It is nice that Cancer research has a Forum to connect with others.

  • Hello Angel-eve

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with DCIS and that you're now waiting for surgery. It's understandably difficult news to hear and I hope that you're being well supported by family and friends.

We have had lots of women post here on the forum who have successfully been treated for DCIS as well as others who have had a DIEP reconstruction. You can read through some of their posts using the forum search function at the top of the page to look for the terms "DCIS" and "DIEP".

Hopefully, some of the members with first-hand experience will post to share their stories with you but if you think it might be helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses in the meantime you're welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have your surgery date soon. Keep in touch Angel-eve and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
